We received notification from Aqua, that they had to shut down their Pickering East and West water treatment plants due to heavy rainfall, flooding and loss of power caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

We ask that all residents comply with the request from Aqua to help the system recover from the recent storm.  This is the notice we received directly from Aqua.

“This is a reminder that customers must discontinue all nonessential water use while we recover the water system from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. That means please take shorter showers, don’t run sprinklers, and minimize your use of washers and dishwashers until further notice. Every little bit helps you and your community. Please help us while we recover the water system.

Aqua is adjusting in other parts of our southeastern Pennsylvania water system to increase supply to our Pickering service area, but it will take time to offset the volume of water we normally produce at this plant. There is the potential for some customers to experience discolored water as we redirect water throughout our distribution system to sustain capacity.
